Lot 5058 CONFEDERATE SPILLER & BURR REVOLVER.

Cal. 36 NSN. This is among the few known unserialized Confederate Macon Armory produced "Spiller & Burr" revolvers. This attractive example has long collection history starting with pioneer Confederate collector Fred Slaton of Nebo, KY who sold it in 1989. We know this is Macon produced revolver due to steel cylinder not made till after June 1864. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Current Spiller & Burr article and research file, correspondence concerning purchase, copies of letters of authenticity from Bill Gary & Hayes Otoupalik and detailed appraisal 2013 by cataloger. CONDITION: very good overall, good brass & steel patina, original & matched with restored grips & trigger guard, cylinder pin has braised/welded repair. Frame shows less stress than most, original brass cone sight is full unlike majority that are worn. Mechanics fine, good rifled bore.
